How to give the perfect high five

The ability to give a good high five is one of the fundamental skills every CrossFitter should master.

Celebrating PR's, finishing a WOD, getting your first pull up or simply the fact that you showed up today.

A good high five can make a somebody's day and a bad one is frankly just embarrassing.

Here's 6 tips on how to execute a good one.

  1. Make the first move
He who initiates the high five, owns the high five.

  2. Heads up
Get the attention of the high five-ee. Make sure they know its coming. High five-ing thin air is just embarrassing.

  3. Go big or go home
A lifeless high five is worse than a limp hand shake. Energy is key. Give it some oomph!

  4. Eyes on the elbows
The palm is a moving, unpredictable target. Instead, keep your eye on the elbow to ensure you don’t miss.

  5. Cup your palm
Make your hand slightly concave to create a satisfying thunderclap.

  6. Howl on contact
Like a wolf at the moon. Awooooooo!!!
