A good high five can make a somebody's day and a bad one is frankly just embarrassing.
Here's 6 tips on how to execute a good one.

Get the attention of the high five-ee. Make sure they know its coming. High five-ing thin air is just embarrassing. - Go big or go home
A lifeless high five is worse than a limp hand shake. Energy is key. Give it some oomph! - Eyes on the elbows
The palm is a moving, unpredictable target. Instead, keep your eye on the elbow to ensure you don’t miss. - Cup your palm
Make your hand slightly concave to create a satisfying thunderclap. - Howl on contact

after I read number 6, I realized my hand had popped up in the air like I was giving a high five.. to thin air, glad I have an office to myself :)
